Tacos & Tequilas….Hola! Mexico

Hola Amigos! Mexico without a doubt is a captivating country offering culture rich history, an array of ancient ruins, pristine beaches & off course their ever famous food and drinks.

I jumped at the opportunity of spending a week in glorious Cancun where it is 32 degrees even at night and every day begins with a cocktail & ends with tequila……yes paradise does exit 🙂 We flew via New York to Cancun which is a 6 hour flight away so spending less then a week is really defeating the purpose.

Cancun is situated in the state of Quintana Roo and is offers a tropical climate all year round. As we left the airport, we immediately felt the sweltering temperatures of the day. Perfect weather for a tan. We booked at the all inclusive resort of Hard Rock Cancun which is ideally situated in the hotel zone and around 25 minutes from Cancun international airport. The hotel is on the bus route to the central party zone and less then 10 minutes away. It has one of the best locations in hotel zone.

The moment we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted with welcome drinks & snacks in the VIP check in lounge.

We booked  deluxe platinum room which was amazing. Spacious rooms with ample of space, a lovely balcony overlooking the ocean, 2 double beds and my favorite, a jacuzzi in the room…..smiles all round for this hotel. Being an all inclusive resort means that everything is included, a definite plus if you are travelling on a family vacation or do not want to hassle about paying bills on check out. Our room included a mini bar which is replenished daily. We had a whisky, vodka, gin, beers, water & a selection of cold drinks available 24/7. Truth be told, we never used the mini bar at all as we had our drinks in the lobby bar, pool bar or at meals.

There is a buffet table near the lobby bar offering light breakfasts, tea / coffee & pastries during tea times, a light lunch & snacks in the evening. Super convenient if you want to have a cocktail and enjoy a few snacks at the bar. The pool service is amazing offering tacos, pizza, buffet lunches & a wide selection of local as well as imported premium beverages. We loved their 24/7 room service with a full menu at any time. Perfect for ordering in after a night out partying! Their oreo cheesecake comes highly recommended.

We tried a different restaurant each night and fell in love with Ciao (Italian cuisines) and Zen (sushi & Teppanyaki ). Food was super delicious & the friendly staff made it even more special. We had refills on our drinks before we even finished the first drink….now that’s what we call service 😉 😉

There is a foam party at the pool which is really fun for the whole family and such a festive atmosphere. The hotel beach is clean, beautiful & perfect for watching the evening skies with a cocktail in hand. Activities at the beach include beach volleyball, jet skiing, parasailing & snorkeling, perfect for the adrenaline junkies.

There are so many activities and tours you could do from Cancun, like a day trip to the Mayan ruins at Chichen Itza, captain Hook dinner cruise, Isla Mujeres cruise as well as exploring Xcaret park. There are high end malls close to town that offer the shopaholic an array of branded shops as well as the famous Hard Rock cafe. Nightlife in Cancun……that was some of the best shows and dancing I have seen, but that’s a review for another day 😉

Cancun is the perfect honeymoon, family vacation or singles getaway….come to think of it if you like sun, sea, delicious food, ample drinks & a party ambiance then Hard Rock hotel is for you!

So if you’re ready for tacos & tequilas, then Cancun should be your next holiday destination.
